About The Track

About Our Track:

Golden Hills Raceway is located in Exeter, CA. We are 100% non-profit, with all proceeds going towards maintaining and improving the track. The track surface is clay based with very good traction. Our track is lighted using high pressure sodium lights, and a 5000 watt generator. Unfortunately at current time we do not have pit tables or power available for racer use. We are however currently working towards this. The current priority is getting the track running smoothly, preparing for the timing system switch and getting a better working track watering system going. This as well as other small details we try to work on with what free time we get. We have had tons and tons of help from local racers, and from a the race director from the local on-road track (tho recently had a falling out) and are very grateful for all the help these people have contributed to making this public track happen. Due to the recent falling out with the local race director we were forced to change our timing system. We are still using Alycat timing software but have switched to the I-Lap lap counting system. This system is different then the AMB system you may have been used to but is cheaper for the track and the racer, as the decoder box and transponders are much much cheaper. The lower cost will also allow us to install a few cool things such as speed traps around the track. However, speed traps would be very cool and the low cost of the decoder boxes make this attainable, it is last on our list of things to do right now. If you have any questions this page my not have answered for you, you may contact either Kim or Bryan for more information. Both of their contact numbers are located on the home page.

Alycat Timing Software / AMB RC Timing System:

This timing software has been very reliable to us and has seen few issues. We chose this software because of its versatility and, well we were taught the insides and outs of this program. Tho some of you may have seen glitches in the past at the track with this system (i.e. missing laps) we feel, we will no longer have these issues. Alycat is working on a fix for the "rolling start" section of the software that was causing the miscounting and mistiming glitch. Alycat did not know of this problem until it was reported to them about us having this issue. We have since purchased the newest 9.1 version of the software. Since this is the newest version we feel it will have much less software/hardware problems.  This software has proven to be fully compatible with our new lap counting hardware. It also has some new features that make inputing racer info a bit easier. The voice synthesizer, though it was easier to understand before, also seems to sound a lot clearer. All in all, the updated version is a bit easier to work with.
